NEMTA makes grand Entry into accessible transportation With S-Afric.
Jude Tadeo Musoke founder and Managing Director of the (NEMTA UG) Network for Medical Transportation Agencies and S-Afric Company Limited, has taken a groundbreaking step in making healthcare events more inclusive. Inspired by his own journey following a life-altering boda boda accident that resulted in a physical disability, Jude began exploring ways to improve transportation systems for people with mobility challenges, he recently introduced Uganda's first wheelchair-accessible public vehicle at this year's Rotary Cancer Run at the UMA Show Grounds.
This innovation was sparked by an earlier collaboration with the Uganda Cancer Society. Recognizing the critical need for inclusive transport, Jude's initiative allows cancer patients and people with mobility issues to participate fully in events like the cancer run an opportunity many had previously been excluded from.
The rollout of this vehicle was met with awe and appreciation from participants, who were impressed by the potential of such assistive technology to make a real difference in mobility for cancer patients and for people with disabilities Despite the challenges, including logistical hurdles and the need for greater public awareness and funding, Jude remains committed to promoting inclusive transport systems.
"The rising number of disabilities due to accidents and other causes demands that we rethink our transport systems tat are totally inclusive," Jude says. "It's time to make all events and public transport accessible to all."
